1200 Luxurious House & Magnificent Garden, Albayzin

Granada, Granada, Granada City
€ 595.000

Description

Best described as being on permanent holiday in your own home, this two floored home boasts a multi-level Tuscany-style garden flourishing with rose archways and fruit trees as well as five terraces, a hammam, guest accommodation and a covered, enclosed winter terrace from which to relax and gaze at the Alhambra comfortably all year round. No expense has been saved on the renovations, with only the finest quality building materials and finishings being used. The price is somewhat negotiable.

The property has two entrances, one above on the upper floor of the house and another below leading down from the bottom of the gardens. There is also a third door into the property which is useful for storing bicycles and a motorbike. Coming in off the top street, we are met by an entrance hall which has a purpose-built walk-in cupboard for storage. Off to the left of the entrance hall is the main, double bedroom with great, purpose-built wardrobes and stunning views over the gardens and of the Alhambra. Opposite the bedroom is a lovely bathroom with a shower with views of the Albayzin. From this level there is access to a covered terrace with Alhambra views, which is currently being used as the laundry space. Stairs leading up from this terrace take us to an enormous sunny roof terrace with spectacular views of the Alhambra, Sierra Nevada and the Albayzin.

Downstairs to the right is a spacious kitchen with ample cupboards, a seating area for meals and Alhambra-style archways through to the winter terrace that provide the kitchen with lots of natural light and views of the Alhambra from almost all angles in the kitchen. The open plan kitchen and living room creates a feeling of space. The living room, with stonework, is cool and fresh in summer and has an electric fireplace for winter months. From here, a door to the left leads to the study/double bedroom which has a pull-down double bed and an en suite bathroom with shower, again with lovely views. Back to the living room, another door leads out to the winter terrace, which is covered and closed. With large windows on two sides, it enjoys lovely natural light and fantastic, dramatic views of the Alhambra, Sierra Nevada and the Albayzin, giving the feeling of being in some old medieval village in Tuscany. This winter terrace is the perfect place to enjoy a summer meal away from the heat or a sheltered winter dinner with views. The winter terrace gives access on the left to another smaller terrace with stairs down to the gardens as well as access on the right to the breathtaking mirador.

The garden has various levels. The gorgeous Italian, Tuscan-style terrace and mirador accessed from the kitchen or the winter terrace has creeping plants and flowers forming a natural arch and shade. It also boasts moorish style fountains, a covered area with tiled seating for summer days and a private mirador from where to enjoy al fresco dining in summer months and gaze out at the phenomenal view of the Alhambra with the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range behind it and the Albayzin off to the right. Stairs to the right of the mirador and terrace lead passed an outdoor shower, with these same exceptional views of the Alhambra, down to the various lower levels of the arched, cascading rose garden, hammam, guest accommodation/workshop/study of 20 m2 (with water, electricity and plumbing already installed) and the many fruit trees dotted around the garden. The garden offers shade and great privacy due to the many archways. It really is a version of the Secret Garden described by Frances Hodgson Burnett in his book of the same name. At night it comes alive with installed solar lights and the magic of the Alhambra can be seen with all its night lights too. There are two more fountains in the garden, all with authentic Fajalauza tiles. The hammam area, with plunge pool, is covered to provide shade in summer and could be closed with glass panes for winter months too. The hammam area has a toilet and shower installed for convenience so as not to have to enter the house while enjoying time outside.
